Hi there! I'm a professional copywriter and editor in a variety of fields. Whether you are working with fiction, marketing, blogs, website content, or any other form of the written word, I'm happy to help. I've also worked in several social media positions, rounding out my skillset with graphic and video content creation. With several years of experience, both freelance and in-house, I'm ready to take on projects of any scale. Please get in contact and let's get to work!
Interdisciplinary researcher and writer, passionate about education, history and disability, skilled at taking complex ideas and making them accessible to all. I love learning and love to share that love through writing.
I am open to all writing assignments, and I'm particularly interested in those relevant to Nova Scotia, where I have now made my permanent home. Within my 25-year career, I have worked as staff at newspapers and magazines as a writer, editor and managing editor in Toronto, Niagara and eastern Ontario regions. My work has been published in Niagara Falls Review, Toronto Star, The Globe & Mail and Harrowsmith Almanac, as well as countless contributions to regional magazines and weekly newspapers. I was honoured in 2009 to be named as Writer-in-Residence at the former R.D. Lawrence Centre in Haliburton County. As a writer, I've been very active with community engagement and have delivered more than a hundred workshops in the areas of journalism, media literacy and creative non-fiction to students and adults in school, library and community settings. I have written a book of non-fiction short stories based on my life in Prince Edward County. Currently, I'm completing a book of mostly humorous, fictional short stories centered around a rural village in Eastern Ontario. I have also just completed work on my first crime novel for which I'm actively seeking a publisher. My experience lends itself to a broad range freelance work, including preparation of media releases, speeches, marketing material, newsletter creation, websites, blog posts and workshop delivery. At this time, I'm actively working as a freelance writer and will soon begin offering a range of writing workshops in my home-based studio for both children and adults. My website and personal blog are currently being created and that information will be updated as soon as its available. Please feel free to contact me to discuss any projects. I'm always open to ideas and interesting opportunities. Thank you for reading.
My freelance experience lies in writing engaging features, articles and profiles.
My past work includes article research, writing and editing; graphic and web design and development; information architecture; publication design and layout; general writing, reporting and editing; professional photography; server management; social media marketing, and consulting.
Health & Lifestyle Content Marketer. A brand storyteller. Maybe even a magic-maker! I grew up and got to do all of it. I’ve been a Marketing Assistant, Buyer Technician, New Product Development Co-ordinator, Marketing Co-ordinator, Brand Manager, Category Manager, New Business Development Manager, National Account Manager, Senior Marketing Manager and Content Marketing Manager. Since 2006, I’ve crafted sales and marketing content for dozens of health, lifestyle, and wellness brands you probably know! I am also a yoga and meditation student and sometimes teacher of iRest Meditation and Yoga Tune Up. I believe good branding and practicing yoga actually have a lot in common! As my years of advocating for health and wellness brands progressed, so did my mindfulness practice. The more I studied yoga and branding, the more I noticed similarities. The best brands in the world use the same principals as yoga and mindfulness to guide their decision making. Whether they call it mindful marketing or not, when brands choose people and planet over profit, that’s what it is! It’s Mindful Marketing - and that’s what I do.
