Virginia is a former field geologist who became a full time writer when she joined The Northern Miner's editorial staff in the 1990s. She holds a Bsc in Geology & Geography from Queen's Univerisity, an MSc in Environmental Science from The University of Toronto and an MFA in creative non-fiction from the University of King's College, Halifax. Virginia draws upon both her formal education and field experience in Africa, China, Central & South America and northern Canada to write enlightened features for publications ranging from domestic newspapers such as The National Post to international trade books such as Brussels-based Nickel magazine. In the corporate and government realm, Virginia assists companies and provincial ministries with their web content, blogs and overall marketing message. She has clients in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Adelaide, Brussels and Lima and has published two books with the Financial Times of London.
