Professional Experience

My writing experience includes the co-authorship of two YA graphic novels geared to reluctant readers and published by Oxford University Press—Unbelievable Philip and The iDance. I have written articles and reviews for Guts Magazine, ArtsEverywhere.com, A/J Alternatives Journal, Undercurrents: A Journal of Critical Environmental Studies, and Demeter Press. I have explored a range of topics from the HIV/AIDS crisis and how it connects to the gentrification of major US cities, to intergenerational living, to the environmental footprint of airports, to queer men and mothering. I have written communications pieces for GAB Communications, a Toronto-based boutique PR firm, specializing in the publicity and management of actors, musicians, TV personalities, celebrity chefs and high profile executives. I have written profiles and articles for the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University and grant applications, pitch documents, profiles, and press releases for private clients, including Toronto's Afro-Brazilian dance troupe, Dance Migration. I have been done manuscript evaluations for major Toronto publishing companies, advising both authors and publishers on manuscripts. I have also worked as a freelance copyeditor. I originally trained as an actor and musician at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) acting conservatory, as well as at York University's Jazz Voice conservatory. I worked as an actor in theatre and film/TV for six years before returning to York University to do a Master in Environmental Studies degree, where I merged my background in the performing arts with my critical interest in environmental justice. In 2016 a pilot screenplay I co-wrote was a finalist in Hollywood's 1st Annual TV Script Writing Competition and a semi-finalist in The Fresh Voices Screenplay Competition. I currently have a scripted series in development for television.
