Marie Powell has gone castle-hopping across North Wales to explore her family roots – and the result is the YA fantasy series Last of the Gifted (http://www.wooddragonbooks.com/marie-powell/), with funding from Creative Saskatchewan. She is author of more than 40 children’s books with such traditional publishers as Scholastic Education, Amicus, and Lerner/Lightning Bolt. Her award-winning short stories and poetry appear in such literary magazines as subTerrain and Room, and her nonfiction appears in print, broadcast, and online markets. An engaging speaker, her writing workshops are popular across the region. Marie lives on Treaty 4 land in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Marie holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Journalism and Communications (BAJC) from the University of Regina, among other degrees.
