For 16 years (2001-2016), I was employed as a journalist with the Cape Breton Post, a daily newspaper in Nova Scotia. There I wrote feature, breaking news, and in-depth articles on a wide range of topics and issues including business, technology, education, health, crime, government and politics, and arts and entertainment. In 2017, I held a contract position with the Cape Breton Partnership as Communications & Meeting Coordinator, where my responsibilities included researching, writing, and editing reports, information packages, newsletters, and social media content; as well as planning events for the Cape Breton Regional Enterprise Network. In 2017/2018, I returned to school, completing the Technical Writer graduate certificate program at Algonquin College in Ottawa. For the last year, I have been working as a freelance content/technical writer in Cape Breton – securing and completing a contract to write, research, design, and edit an in-depth sector strategy, doing content development for a land sales company, as well as other writing and content creation projects.
