Award-winning writer and editor, with particular interest in arts and culture. Fourteen-year background in daily journalism, combined with active participation in theatre as performer and director. Retired in 2020 from position as Literary and Editorial Director at the Stratford Festival. Experienced in a wide range of arts writing, from theatre, film and literary criticism to promotional and fundraising materials, including brochure copy, cases for support, CEO messages and speeches. Contract clients have included Toronto's Luminato Festival of Arts and Creativity, Soundstreams, Wellspring, the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario, PAL Canada Foundation, the Toronto Rehab Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Ontario March of Dimes and the United Church of Canada. Author of the book "Out of Afghanistan" (1987), based on a journalistic assignment to interview Red Army defectors in Soviet-occupied Afghanistan. Co-author (with Richard Monette) of the book "This Rough Magic: The Making of an Artistic Director" (2007). Editor of the book "Stratford Behind the Scenes" (2012).
