I began my career as a private investigator, running a successful agency for over 30 years. Midway into my tenure as a P.I. I began teaching at the college level. Shortly thereafter, I began writing on a freelance basis - covering topics as diverse as politics, psychology, aviation, theatre, and....travel! (My first freelance piece was a full page travel article for the front page of The Globe and Mail's travel section.) I began working as a contributing editor for Shield Media, which operated a network of weekly newspapers across Ontario. I then authored a best-selling true crime book in 2011, and quickly followed it up with another. Since then I have focused my ambitions solely on travel writing - becoming International Living's "Gumshoe in Paradise" columnist, searching the world (along with my wife) for the perfect retirement destination. Our adventures will continue as we head to Mexico, Belize and Guatemala on January 1, 2022 for 4 months. I'm always eager to take on additional freelance writing assignments involving travel and leisure, and welcome any requests!
