Canada’s meeting place for freelance writers and creators

Established 2010

There are a couple of great events coming up next month for freelancers and media students in Halifax. CMG Freelance and CWA Associate Members have two days of training and mentorship planned for March 1 and 2.

Come out to an evening of training, mentorship and socializing on March 1st at The Company House (2202 Gottingen Street Halifax) from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

The evening will include a workshop on building a sustainable career in media as well as short mentorship sessions with journalists. Drinks and snacks will be served during a social hour after the workshops. Check out this Eventbrite page for more details about the event and to reserve your spot.

On March 2nd, join us for a lunchtime workshop with freelance journalists Sandra Phinney and Don Genova at Creative Lab at the Halifax Central Library (5440 Spring Garden Rd) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The workshop will give an overview of the freelance writing world. It will cover pitching to magazines, websites and trade publications and repurposing your ideas for different markets. A light lunch will be provided. If you'd like to attend this workshop, be sure to register on this Eventbrite page.

Don't miss these opportunities for professional development and networking!
