Adjudicators wanted for CUP’s John H. McDonald Journalism Awards

The Canadian University Press is on the hunt for adjudicators for their 2013 "Johnnies" -- awards given for excellence in student reporting across the country.

There are 3 adjudicators for each of 13 awards categories. CUP is still looking for judges for news, sports, arts and culture, diversity, labour, opinion, french news, french sports, french arts and culture, french features, photography and graphic design. More information on the various categories is available here on the CUP website.

Awards Coordinator Shelby Blackley says that anyone with a background in journalism is typically welcomed as a judge, although the ideal candidate will have some kind of editorial experience.

"The more experience the better," says Blackley, "and depending on the category it is also helpful to have some background in the certain area."

Deliberation will take place via email and phone, as judges tend to be from all across the country, and will be ongoing through December and early January. The awards ceremony will occur during CUP's national conference in Toronto, January 10-13.
