As Spooky Season creeps ever closer, we’re seeking pitches from design practitioners and journalists on The Design of Horror | The Horror of Design.

Whether you’re seduced by the scary or shy away from it, we want your take on the most chilling and thrilling ways that horror and design intersect. What cursed objects, theories, trends, policies, or people are haunting today’s designers? What horrors from history, and harbingers of frights still to come, should we be paying attention to? How can we dredge up enough final-girl energy to confront these resident evils?

We welcome art-eds, op-eds, criticism, reported articles, and multimedia work from professional designers and journalists. See our pitch guide for more on what types of stories will make us bite. Lonely Planet, a leading travel media company, is seeking a remote freelance Social Media Manager on a part-time 20 hours/week contract through the end of 2025. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with deep knowledge of established and emerging social networks, sharp copywriting skills, and the ability to script and edit social-first, short-form video content. Candidates should also have strong editorial judgement, firm grasp of brand voice and tone across organic and sponsored content, and bring an enthusiasm for travel to their work.

The freelance Social Media Manager will be responsible for building, scheduling, and publishing social media posts across Lonely Planet’s social handles and its sub-brand, Lonely Planet Journeys. This includes repackaging and cross-posting content to suit the formats and best practices for each channel, plugging into existing templates and social series, identifying emerging social trends, and original content creation as needed.

Our client is looking for a Medical Editor with strong pharma knowledge to join their team on a long-term role.

This is for candidates based in Ontario. This role will be focusing on FDA. 

As a Medical Editor you will: 
- Edit copy and ensure regulatory compliance for branded and unbranded marketing/promotional materials geared towards HCP and patient use across digital and print channels
- Fact check and proof existing copy to adapt for new channels and audiences 
- Provide medical, regulatory and legal expertise in order to ensure consistency and accuracy within FDA guidelines, internal style guidelines and brand standards
- Prepare and annotate submissions for MLR review 
- Contribute to the development and support across multiple sub-brands under the client (rheum, diabetes etc)
- Work in tandem with Content Studio to collaborate on ideation for overall strategy execution and work on overall integration within relevant campaigns within a Project Management System

The ideal candidate will have: 
- 1-3 years of experience in agency or medical writing experience 
- Medical/ pharma writing experience featured in portfolio
- Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat, with ability to quickly learn new technology and software
