Tasks in the role:

• Take high-quality screenshots and add them to blog post drafts.
• Edit screenshots to highlight important information.
• Request custom illustrations from the design team.
• Write out tool workflows (step-by-step sections on using Semrush tools) in blog posts.
• Research topics to improve your knowledge, expand upon topics, and strengthen the originality of content.
• Occasionally coordinate with other teams to facilitate reviews or collaboration.

As part of the Osmosis Team, the Question Writer will work with the Content Team to deliver the best learning experience possible for our learners. You will work closely with our question writing team, which consists of other question writers, editors, and reports to our Sr. Content Manager for Questions. The questions you write will be uploaded to our robust, growing Osmosis question bank. Sometimes, you’ll be asked to participate in team meetings and discussions where you get to interact with members from the question team and many others. 

This position is 10-30 hours per week and remote. You must regularly be available during Eastern Standard Time (UTC - 5).

Responsibilities

• Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation;
• Talk with Product Managers and Product Developers, and study early product builds;
• Work with UX designers and product developers to ensure that UI text (field labels, error messages, etc.) are meaningful and error-free;
• Get hands-on with the product to ensure accurate documentation;
• Develop customer-facing documentation for new products and features, including content, charts, illustrations, etc.;
• Integrate documentation into product builds;
• Review existing documentation, and recommend edits and reorganization;
• Standardize content across platforms and media;

The journalists who cover these stories seek evidence-based answers to the fundamental questions of the body, the world, and the universe: How does it all work? What can the future hold? And how are we all connected?

We’re looking for a writer with experience covering science and/or health for a temporary contract position. Writers who are available to commit to a three-month contract and can file approximately 5-6 stories per week — a mix of breaking news, features, commentary and/or analysis — are encouraged to apply. (The rate is approximately $1,250/week.)

This is a temporary, remote position. We’re looking for a highly-organized, detail- and deadline-oriented professional who knows how to collaborate and communicate effectively using digital tools. Preference will be given to writers with a deep understanding of the scientific process, specializing in one or more of the following areas: astronomy, climate and environment, public and reproductive health, and the intersection of tech and science.
