A freelance LonelyPlanet.com Copy Editor is a copy editing and proofreading role, with some photo selection (for which there is training). Copy Editors work directly in Lonely Planet Content Management System (CMS). The Copy Editor loads digital articles into the CMS, performs the second-pass edit to check for grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting and house style issues and ensures that all written content is clear, concise, useful for the reader and in the right tone. 

The role also requires fact-checking skills and sound editorial judgment on issues such as avoiding defamation and cultural sensitivity. Successful candidates will be able to manage their own time, ensuring that digital articles meet Lonely Planet’s publishing standards and are ready to publish on deadline.
