We’re looking for great reporting and engaging storytelling that gives readers insight into farming and food systems around the globe, with a particular focus on North America. We’re especially interested in stories that explore agriculture and food production against the backdrop of climate and sustainability, social inequality, and food security—but we’re always interested in creative and resourceful ideas that fall outside those areas.

Responsibilities

• Monitor wires, social media and other news sources to find fresh, relevant content for CTV Morning Live (CML)
• Chase live news guests for developing stories, write scripts and edit breaking news
• Write scripts and edit video for a variety of stories (news and features)
• Support field crew in sourcing highest quality video and delivering end goal to air the latest information in a timely manner on CML
• Share accountability for presenting end product that is consistent with highest professional journalistic standards
• Support and backfill in News Producing as required and other roles (i.e. chase producing and reporting) as assigned, where performance and qualifications permit

Under the direction of the Director, News & Public Affairs, this experienced individual will:

• Work with Producers and Anchors to assist with the production of CTV Morning Live
• Preparing for and producing engaging segments for a morning audience
• Generate ideas for stories, interviews, and segments, including the integration of content on-air, online, and through social media
• Assist sales team to integrate viewer-focused client content

Radio-Canada Acadie, is looking for a Reporter / Editor (temporary positon) based in Halifax who will be assigned mainly to the web, radio and television. Keeping with corporate standards and policies, the Journalist will write texts and produce reports for newscast for the news department.

As a producer of CBC North’s multiplatform news coverage you will be in charge of planning, organizing and producing daily news and current affairs content that engages the audience and reflects the NWT in all of its diversity.

Your responsibilities will include working closely with the NWT’s senior producer on assigning and overseeing reporters, videographers, and videojournalists to effectively and efficiently cover the stories and issues affecting the people of the Northwest Territories. You will be responsible for vetting stories from reporters in the Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut for radio, television, and web platforms.

The position will also involve some responsibility for CBC North’s social media, and may include some enterprise reporting and content production.

The successful candidate will be a strong journalist and leader; a collaborative thinker and team player; and a coach who is invested in the development of new and budding journalists. They are invested in telling the stories of the people of the North to the people of the North, and are an advocate for their audience’s needs.

They have ideas for daily coverage and special projects and are not afraid to be vocal; and are willing to be creative in uses of sound to present a strong radio newscast. They are detail-oriented and well versed in CBC’s journalistic standards and practices, willing to take up tough questions with reporters and be the last line of defense before our reporting is published.

Reporting to the Managing Editor, you will be a key piece of our journalistic leadership team, playing a role in developing long term strategy and projects while shaping our daily news coverage.

Please note the schedule for this position is from 12:00 pm to 8:45 pm.

In this position, you will report to the Saguenay station’s Manager of News and Current Affairs (TV/radio/digital) and mainly perform the role of Researcher for the morning show C’est jamais pareil. You will be responsible for proposing relevant topics, content and original interview angles and finding interesting guests who captivate listeners and make us stand out in the Saguenay Lac-St-Jean market. You must be highly adaptable, be able to work under pressure and maintain a wide network of contacts.
 
In addition to being very familiar with the Saguenay Lac-St-Jean region and its influencers, you will need to show imagination and initiative and adopt a rigorous approach. As a Researcher, you must be able to work on multiple stories simultaneously and be well organized. Your work must also adhere to CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.

The schedule is weekdays from 4:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. but working hours may vary to accommodate production requirements.
