The MMC Arts Grant assists comic book creators with small grants to assist in the costs in self-publishing their work. It is not the grants intention to fully support an artist/writer through the entire process of self-publishing, but rather to encourage creators to experience the learning process involved in working towards such a goal.
As we are focused on creators, please note that submissions containing any AI-generated art or stories will not qualify for the grant.

I am hiring two remote freelance writers to write VGIM while I’m on book leave in the summer.
I am looking for a couple of top notch writers to help me out by:
- Crafting five VGIMs across the course of June, July and August.
- Ensuring each newsletter follows house style (i.e. features lots of puns).
- Uploading them to Substack’s back end for me to run the rule over.
While I will consider all relevant applications, I am particularly keen to bring on writers who can demonstrate i) that they can compose crisp copy to a deadline, ii) know the games landscape and iii) understand the industry sits in a wider political, cultural and commercial context.
And in return for freeing their lance up for me, each successful writer will be paid £1500 for five newsletters (a rate of £300 per edition of VGIM produced).
Interested in applying? Send me a short email outlining why you think you’d be a great fit for VGIM with links to your work to george@videogamesindustrymemo.com by Friday 28th March.

Dignified Menstruation is an innovative, holistic approach for not only changing narratives around menstruation but also changing the landscape of gender-based violence, human rights and feminism. However, many stakeholders considered it as a private not as a priority. Therefore, this fellowship program aims to blowout the urgency and intersectionality of various aspects of Dignified Menstruation through various outlets of the media at global level.
Despite being the most advanced area in development, media also do not place the Dignified Menstruation as an urgent and profound human rights concern. Recently, few media has started to cover the issues related to menstruation. But, they mostly confined with menstrual products or period products or period tax which are needed but not necessary to guarantee the menstrual dignity. On the other hand, they missed to examine the menstrual discrimination through the lens of human rights as menstrual discrimination is an underlying cause of systemic inequalities and patriarchy which is cultivated since childhood and reinforced throughout the life.
In an effort, Global South Coalition for Dignified Menstruation (GSCDM) conducts trainings at local, national and global level on Dignified Menstruation centering media, government officials, NGOs/INGOs, academia, and so on (www.dignifiedmenstruation.org).

The Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Center for Business Journalism provides experienced journalists with grants up to $15,000 and the editorial support needed to produce deeply reported enterprise and investigative stories with a strong economic, financial or business angle. You don’t need to be a business reporter to apply — many of our previous Fellows have been generalists, or cover beats such as health care, education or the environment. Others have focused on issues such as economic inequality or corporate accountability.
Given the enormous changes in federal spending and policy priorities now coming out of the new administration in Washington DC, we are particularly interested during the Spring 2025 round of Fellowships in story proposals that examine the impact of these changes.
The upcoming deadline to apply for Spring 2025 Fellowships is April 14, 2025.
We consider proposals from both freelance and staff journalists in all forms of media — text, audio, photo, and short-form video — and encourage those that combine formats to create a multimedia package. We look for projects that focus on important local or regional topics, as well as those that tackle compelling national or international stories or report on under-covered communities or issues. Journalists from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
