The MMC Arts Grant assists comic book creators with small grants to assist in the costs in self-publishing their work. It is not the grants intention to fully support an artist/writer through the entire process of self-publishing, but rather to encourage creators to experience the learning process involved in working towards such a goal.

As we are focused on creators, please note that submissions containing any AI-generated art or stories will not qualify for the grant.

We are looking for 20 WHRDs to contribute personal essays and stories to the anthology focused on documenting and highlighting their resilience, challenges, and triumphs in the face of threats from state and societal actors. The stories will be in voices of the WHRDs, documented as personal essays, poems, in short and long form, spoken or written – we are not bound by format.

 We welcome your pitches for 5 page standalone sci-fi/horror/fantasy comic stories.

 The story should have 1 or more prominent LGBTQ+ character(s) and/or theme(s).

 The creative teams can be from anywhere in the world where at least one person per team identifies as LGBTQ+.

 The stories should not have been published anywhere before.

The Social Media & Special Projects Graphic Designer will focus on creating visually compelling content that enhances Lola Blankets’ social media presence, special events, and campaign imagery. This retainer-based role involves working closely with the social media manager to stay ahead of design trends and ensure the brand remains relevant across digital platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of creativity, an eye for trends, and the ability to craft engaging visuals that captivate audiences across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and potentially other platforms.

This is an amazing opportunity for CG Senior Texturing Artists to join the Atomic Vancouver crew on a short-term contract!

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Work with the show supervisors to texture and shade 3D models using Photoshop, Substance Painter and/or Zbrush.
• Work with the Assets Department Supervisor(s) and the Art Director to create the aesthetic vision of the production.
• Share ideas, collaborate and work closely with other members of the production including modeling, lighting, compositing and design.
• Meet deadlines as assigned by production management while producing high quality work.
• Be updated and familiar with new techniques, tools or other related software.

We are always looking to collaborate with freelancers on visual stories they are excited to tell. Each quarter, we commission a couple of essays (compensation details below), but we accept story pitches year-round (and review monthly).

We pay $7,200 for end-to-end work on an essay. If we collaborate by providing some assistance in a non-editor capacity (e.g., we do the design), we will lower the compensation accordingly.
