Pay starts at $250 for around 600-700 words including logistical info.  #travelwriters It's an ongoing  series so we commission every other month or so, and need to cover the world, so if you don't hear back right away we still might commission it in the future. We are on the hunt for an experienced, rockstar editor to join Thrillist at Vox Media. As a member of the Travel team, you’ll report to the Editorial Director of Travel to help shape and implement content strategy, manage our day-to-day workflow, and above all, bring fun, inspiring, serviceable travel stories to life.

The perfect candidate will have a ton of travel experience under their belt, with Jeopardy-levels of knowledge about both domestic and international destinations, a good understanding of the travel industry, and an unquenchable curiosity about people, places, and cultures around the world. Your passion and perspective will help set the tone for our travel section.

The Manual editorial team is currently seeking freelance writers for the Travel category  

You should be team-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and a self-starter mentality. You must be able to work within our tech-centric platforms, possess a willingness to continually learn, adapt to a changing environment as editorial needs change, and step in where help is needed. Prior experience with WordPress is a must-have trait.   

Great candidates can manage multiple assignments/tasks in a structured environment without missing deadlines.  

Each month, you will be assigned evergreen content which is optimized to rank for SEO. Writers are also encouraged to pitch content!   

We need a travel writer who can pitch and write news articles with a quick turnaround, craft great evergreens (including how-to articles), cover emerging and popular trends, liaise with experts, and write exquisite guides for readers. There will also be opportunities to review products and take trips! 

We are looking for someone who is a competent writer and excellent self-editor with a passion for crafting great content, educating readers, and enhancing the visibility of the content on the site. The ability to research and provide great insight to our readers is necessary, as is the ability to update existing content as needed and source appropriate imagery via Shutterstock, Getty Images, and comparable sites we have login credentials for.  

The ideal candidate has experience covering travel, the ability to meet deadlines without fail, and the desire to dive right into crafting readily publishable content in WordPress. The ability to submit airtight copy using excellent editorial judgment is crucial.
