The CBC’s Parliamentary bureau in Ottawa is looking for an energetic and creative senior writer to join the team behind the award-winning show Power & Politics.

You must have the panache and self-confidence to bring our programming to life. You think on your feet, enjoy working in a fast-paced breaking news environment and aspire to inform, entertain and enlighten our audiences.

The writer will shape the on-air voice of Power & Politics. The successful candidate must be able to write clear, concise broadcast copy, while incorporating the show’s personality. The position involves visual storytelling through the use of video and graphics - all this while meeting the tight deadlines of a live 2-hour daily television show.  The writer is a key member of the show’s editorial team.

While this is primarily a television production job, a comfort level with all media lines is essential. You will also have experience developing and executing social media strategies to help expand the journalistic footprint of Power & Politics beyond the traditional media platforms, and outside the program’s two-hour daily broadcast. You will have the ability to write online content based on stories generated by Power & Politics.

The hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 11:00 to 19:15 but are subject to change due to operational requirements.
