CBC’s IUnit is responsible for delivering highly original investigative content to all platforms. While allied closely with News programs, the team also produces longer current affairs treatments that bring depth and context to major breaking stories.

You are a senior journalist with demonstrated experience at finding and telling investigative stories. You bring an ability to understand and distill complex information through creative story-telling. You have the curiosity, energy and commitment needed to see an investigative story through its research and production stages, and have an advanced understanding of legal requirements in journalism, in addition to CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.

You are a proven journalistic leader, with significant investigative experience, cultural fluency and an appreciation for the range of perspectives held by Canadians. You live and promote the values of an inclusive and respectful work culture.

You will oversee the generation and development of stories by working with production teams, providing guidance and direction on research, while setting and upholding realistic timelines for shooting, recording, editing and rollout. You have a keen eye for detail and can manage many files at once. You keep meticulous records of stories pitched and completed.

Under the direction of the  I-Unit’s Executive Producer, you will be involved in staffing, technical and production issues and choices. You have exceptional organisational skills as the IUnit has many clients, contributors and collaborators at CBC and Radio-Canada.

You will keep the Executive Producer informed about the development of stories and any potential editorial, legal or production issues that may have wider implications for the Network.

The Senior Producer is a collaborator who will work with other programs and leaders across the CBC to make sure that the journalistic work created by the team is seen and heard on all platforms. At the network level, you will have a keen awareness of the needs, style and audiences of network programs like The National, The World at Six and World Report. You will also seek to support the creation of investigative content in CBC Regions and ensure good information flow with teams everywhere. You have a thorough understanding of the CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.

You have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to mentor, motivate, inspire and support a team tasked with creating high-impact, high stakes journalism.

You bring a different life experience, perspective and expertise to the team, all of which enriches story content and helps CBC  grow new, younger and diverse audiences across broadcast and digital platforms.

You are a creative thinker, with a strong work ethic, who can work in a demanding environment and maintain a sense of humour.
