We will start accepting applications for the next Walter Grants cycle on July 1, 2024. Our submission window will close on August 14, 2024 at 11:59 PM EST. In 2024, we are offering up to 15 Walter Grants.

We accept submissions from diverse writers and illustrators who are currently unpublished, and we encourage Black, Native, and Palestinian creators to apply.

RVO Health publishes daily news content on Healthline and Medical News Today. Our news focusses on all areas of chronic health conditions, nutrition, new treatments, medications, and trending wellness topics.

In this role, you will fact-check forthcoming news content to ensure that it meets our editorial standards. All editing and review work will take place within our WordPress CMS. 

This is a freelance roll, paid hourly. Most news assignments are 800-1000 words and require about an hour of fact checking. Freelance fact-checkers may invoice in 30-minute increments. 

This is a flexible role, and workloads can vary based on an individual’s availability.

We have teams based in the UK and across the US, and we publish across multiple timezones, five days a week.

First, read us. Check out back issues and get a feel for our style, tone and content. We expect pitches that are tailored to the magazine, so please don’t send us pitches that are also under consideration at other magazines.

Keep in mind our lead time is between four and six months, so pitches must be submitted well in advance of publication while still remaining timely and current.

Send us a one-page query letter outlining your idea. We receive hundreds of pitches a month and just don't have the time to figure out how an article could work for the magazine, so we need your query letter to tell us. It should note whether you’re pitching for the magazine or the website, clearly and concisely explain your idea, why it’s a good fit for the magazine, what section it should go in and what format it will take.

Chatelaine does not accept unsolicited manuscripts. Please don’t send us completed articles or query letters for completed articles.

We prefer to receive pitches by email. Submit to letters@chatelaine.com. Your query letter can be included in the body of your email, but please attach or link us to at least two pieces of previously published writing.
